Gratitude || God is Good
Today was eventful and relaxing. Family + Friends in my home. Music, Laughter and Eating...yeah, probably some of the best things you could ask for. I have been so blessed to have family in my life. So many are without. God has restored so many relationships in my family, and I am so happy! My family is not perfect. Ha, it definitely has it's BIG issues. But we're still family.
In my family, we have had a tradition since as long as I can remember, for thanksgiving. We have a cotton sheet that we write what we're thankful for on. We have been doing it for so long that some of the writing has faded, and is being written over now with new ink.
It makes me smile looking at it...there are so many memories in this piece of material. Today my niece Taylor brought a piece of paper with something written on it......
"Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?"
It made me think of the cloth that we have written on over the years. Always thanking God for what He has done in our lives, because He has taken care of us.
I am sure there are those who did not enjoy this day. They are hurting and don't understand this world. They don't understand God. Why would He do this? Why would He do that? As like any other human being, I don't have the answers that most want to hear. I can't tell them why God "allowed" their family member or friend to die. I do know that God had to let go of His family member once...I do know that He understands what separation and sacrifice feels like. Jesus knows what you feel. He went through every possible thing you can imagine here on earth. He hurts when you hurt, and cries when you cry.
He understands.
We are not promised tomorrow. We are given this moment right now. Are we going to choose to believe that God hates us, and doesn't have any empathy towards us? Or our we going to get up, and choose to glorify Him in all that we say and do?
He loves you. He understands you.
He overcame everything, and if we are living for Him, we have no need to fear for tomorrow, because He has it all taken care of already.
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33
My heart goes out to those who are hurting, who don't understand His love for them. He doesn't want them to feel lost or lonely. There is only one way to be truly satisfied and happy.
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31
My walk with the Lord still wavers at times, because I'm human and I have doubts. But God never changes. He is still the same, and He never sleeps. He is always with us. Even if we feel very alone.
"Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps." Psalm 121:4
You are loved. Live your life for Him. Put Him before anything else, He's got your back!
